Tioman

Tioman, the island known for its healthy coral reefs and abundance of marine life, is just too good to be true. Bamboo Hill, our resort, is located in ABC, a charming Malay village with only one narrow footpath linking all the family-run resorts together. There are no cars here, let alone hotels, boulevards, tourist shops or other irritating stuff. At Tioman there is only peace, tranquility and indescribable beauty. It’s so quit here we can hear the ocean in our chalet. The villagers have a healthy disregard for time, schedules and being in a rush.

Let me characterize an average day on Tioman by briefly summing up our activities.

- The monkeys climbing in trees next to our chalet wake us up
- Have breakfast on our veranda and see the monkeys play
- Walk to jetty where the boot of our diving center picks us up. On the way to the jetty we see snakes, monkeys, lizards and squirrels
- First dive (22 meter) at Coral Island (see at least 10 species of neon-colored fish, amongst which, anemone fish, also known as Nemo fish, very funny to see), barracudas, blue-spotted stingrays and different types of soft and hard corals). Feeling weightless, moving in three dimensions, breathing under water and swim with fish and other underwater creatures you’ve never seen before is truly astonishing, definitely one of the best things I’ve done during our trip
- Have lunch break on small uninhabited island and swim in the translucent water of the South Chinese sea
- On the way to the second dive spot we see dolphins and tuna jumping out of the water
- Second dive (15 meter) at Chebeh Island (again, see many types of neon-colored fish, turtles, stingrays, barracudas, cuttlefish and different types of hard and soft corals). Dennis thanks for the picture, see below
- Go back to the dive center and have a few beers with the other divers
- Go back to chalet, have a shower, sit on the porch of chalet and see the sun sink into the ocean
- Have dinner (fresh barbequed prawn) at restaurant
- Go to bed and sleep like a baby, despite the mosquito’s: the only drawback of Tioman

VERY NICE, ME LIKE!
